Philips Ingenia Elition 3T MR
SimonMed Imaging, one of the largest outpatient imaging providers in the U.S., will bring 3T MR to its centers of excellence across the country through a new partnership with Philips.

The first six systems, placed in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix (2), Chicago and Denver, will feature software and services to enhance diagnoses ranging from brain injuries, liver, and cardiac disease, to orthopedic injuries. Four of the facilities will be Philips Ingenia Elition 3T MR with Ambient Experience, the other two will be Ingenia 3T MR, the predecessor to Elition, Philips told HCB News.

“This collaboration with Philips focuses on going beyond routine 3T MR imaging to deploy the most advanced technology, often only available to an academic center, in accessible and affordable outpatient practice to greatly enhance diagnoses from early post-traumatic brain injuries to the most subtle orthopedic injuries,” said Dr. John Simon, CEO of SimonMed Imaging.

The Philips Ingenia Elition 3T MR received FDA approval in June of 2018 and can perform scans up to 50% faster than other MR scanners. The system debuted earlier that year at the annual ECR meeting in Vienna.

“It’s attempting to respond to the dynamics of the health care system on a global basis,” Rob Cascella, executive vice president of the diagnosis and treatment businesses at Philips, told HCB News at the time. “Today our problems are that imaging has gotten much more sophisticated, the staff is overworked and there are not more radiologists, yet we have more information.”

The system delivers high-quality images up to 50% faster than other MR scanners and provides access to new diagnostic techniques, such as mapping the white matter to evaluate brain trauma, supporting confident diagnosis in challenging clinical indications.

SimonMed Imaging consists of over 200 subspecialty-trained radiologists operating across nine states with over 150 accredited facilities that are ACR-RADSITE certified with certified technologists and equipment.
