Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, 1 April 2020 - IBA (Ion Beam Applications SA), the world's leading provider of proton therapy solutions for the treatment of cancer, today announces that a Virginia patient has completed the first proton therapy treatment cycle at the Inova Mather Proton Therapy Center, in Fairfax, Virginia, USA.

The Proteus® platform installed in Fairfax is an IBA Proteus®PLUS* solution with two gantry rooms, each equipped with Pencil Beam Scanning capability and integrated Cone Beam CT.

With 37 IBA-equipped proton therapy centers in operation – 25 Proteus®PLUS and 12 Proteus®ONE* – IBA has the largest users' community in proton therapy confirming IBA's leadership in the market.
