Trump at HIMSS

Trump at HIMSS

Philip F. Jacobus, CEO | March 04, 2020
I think it's great news that Trump is going to HIMSS, because I believe he will be so amazed and impressed by what he sees and will have a better understanding of how complicated healthcare is and how important data is.

I think it was Bloomberg who said, "In God we trust, everyone else bring data".

I like that expression, whether you were a supporter of his presidential bid or not, you probably agree with the sentiment.

When President Trump visits HIMSS he will get an appreciation for how complicated our industry is.

I think that awareness will ultimately benefit everyone.

Trump at HIMSS

Phil,

I can see that you are just being nice to the President with your words. I don't mean any disrespect to the President by taking an opposite view of his visit to HIMSS but you and me know very well he hardly has any interest in technology or science. Your words hold good for someone like Bloomberg visiting HIMSS but not our President. For him this visit is just a photo op. He will like the opportunity of seeing so many people in suit and tie against the backdrop of a maze of computers and terminals as he is ushered in to the auditorium. He won't stop by the booths or ask any meaningful questions. He will give a prepared speech of few minutes written by experts mostly on what is being done on coronavirus. This speech will have zero impact on our industry unlike what you have written.

I guess I'm more of an optimist than you are. I'm hoping that Mr. Trump helps our industry.
