General Electric. Co. Chair and CEO Jeffrey R. Immelt will deliver the keynote address at the kick-off event for the American College of Radiology's new leadership academy next summer.

The invitation-only, three-day event starts July 12 at the Hotel Orrington on Northwestern University's campus in Evanston, Ill., and marks the start of the Radiology Leadership Institute. This multi-center academy, first announced in August, offers management courses for radiologists, radiation oncologists, radiologic technologists and similar professionals.

Immelt, 55, is the ninth chairman of GE, and has led the company since Sept. 7, 2001. He has been named "World's Best CEO" by Barron's three times, and in January he stepped in for ex-chairman of the Federal Reserve, Paul Volcker, to lead President Obama's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.
