Boston, 12 March 2024 – Pointr, a leading developer of indoor positioning technology, is pleased to announce a new reseller agreement with Siemens Healthineers that will enable the global medical technology company to offer Pointr’s wayfinding services as part of its portfolio of operational efficiency solutions. By providing digital maps and location services, health networks can improve how patients, visitors and staff navigate to and within hospitals and system campuses.

Ben Sperling, vice president and general manager of Enterprise Intelligence at Siemens Healthineers, states, "the collaboration between Siemens Healthineers and Pointr makes sense because both organizations are highly focused on driving positive patient experiences. By putting intuitive maps and wayfinding in the hands of patients and visitors, we can significantly reduce the frustration often associated with navigating larger hospitals and health campuses.”

Ray Weaver, Chief Marketing Officer at Pointr, agrees. “Pointr is excited to collaborate with Siemens Healthineers to help make hospitals smarter: more efficient for healthcare providers; more accessible and easier to navigate for patients and visitors. Let’s make finding your way around one less thing to worry about when you go to the hospital.”

Pointr’s patented technology uses an AI model to create user-friendly maps from CAD files, and smartphone sensors plus fixed-point Bluetooth signals to accurately pinpoint each user’s location inside a hospital. Its flexible platform can be seamlessly integrated into hospital apps, or accessed through QR codes and URLs with no app to download. Together, these two delivery modes provide a customizable and user-friendly experience for patients and visitors.

The applications of Pointr's technology are widespread, ranging from patient wayfinding and the delivery of location-specific messages to identifying staff duress, showcasing the platform’s adaptability and impact. By integrating the technology with an EHR/scheduling system, hospitals can personalize the patient journey by displaying appointment information directly on the digital maps. Hospital campuses such as UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital are already benefiting from Pointr’s indoor maps and navigation solutions.
