As part of a nearly $1 million (10.5 million SEK) deal, RaySearch Laboratories is providing 15 RayPlan systems to Chinese medical manufacturer Shinva, which will sell them alongside its linear accelerator technology.

RayPlan facilitates treatment planning for 3D-CRT, intensity-modulated radiotherapy, volumetric modulated arc therapy, TomoTherapy, and electron beam radiation, as well as providing virtual simulations and comparisons of different plans based on individual patient anatomy.

It is a more affordable alternative for providers that contains some but not all of the features in RaySearch’s flagship platform, RayStation, which Shinva has sold for years with its linac technology, and to which it is now looking to add RayPlan as an option for customers with more limited budgets.

RayPlan also has tools for contouring organs at risk, structure templates for regions of interest, and region of interest algebra for recording and updating anatomical expressions.

In May 2023, RaySearch announced it would be extending its partnership with global supplier BEBIG Medical, which distributes Shinva’s linac systems, and further integrating RayStation with the linacs.

The total cost of the RayCare deal will be $987,500.13.
