Mobirex i9 leverages CXDI-Elite panels and is ideal for the ICU
Canon Medical Systems USA unveiled its newest mobile X-ray system this week, featuring flat-panel detectors with automatic exposure control (AEC) assistance, allowing for easier imaging.
The Mobirex i9 with CXDI-Elite panels, which was FDA-cleared at the end of September, is being showcased at the RSNA annual meeting in Chicago this week. The CXDI-Elite Panels feature automatic exposure control assistance that detects whether enough signal has reached the detector and an adequate exposure has been taken.
Previously, the technologist would have to look at the patient and estimate the signal used.
“It talks to the generator and, if there’s sufficient exposure achieved, it will shut off the signal,” said Moin Hussaini, managing director of the X-ray business unit at Canon Medical Systems USA. “It allows it to work like a point and shoot camera.”
Mobirex i9 is the only system Canon offers with the CXDI-Elite panels. The mobile system is ideal for imaging patients in the ICU and can serve as a backup if there’s excess imaging demand.
A version of the system without AEC assist was introduced outside of the U.S. in March 2018. The new version will also be released internationally.
The system comes with Canon’s InnerVision remote service support and enhanced drop coverage on the panels. The panels are made with a carbon fiber backing and a 14-inch-by-14-inch detector is 5.07 pounds with a battery.
