Prisma Health has appointed Philips to oversee its enterprise interoperability plans.
Prisma Health has tasked Philips with orchestrating an enterprise interoperability plan for its hospitals and physician practices.
The technology company will standardize patient monitoring and deploy solutions that enhance clinical performance and improve care at South Carolina’s largest private, nonprofit healthcare system and second largest private company.
Formed in 2017 through a merger between Greenville Health System and Palmetto Health, Prisma Health has nearly 3,000 beds in 18 acute care and specialty hospitals, as well as 270 physician practices across 21 counties. The organization treats more than one million individual patients annually, including 368,000 virtual care visits and just under half a million emergency department visits.

The provider will be equipped with the Philips HealthSuite secure cloud platform, which facilitates connections to clinical smart devices; repositories for clinical and device-telemetry data; and a built-in framework for assessing and managing healthcare data. It also will use Vue Motion, Philips enterprise viewer, which does away with software downloads for medical data or image viewing. Instead, the viewer can be embedded in the EHR and patient portable and used by authorized personnel to access patient data and images quickly and easily with a single login.
The company’s Capsule Medical Device Information Platform, meanwhile, will connect almost all existing medical devices and EMRs in hospitals through a vendor-neutral system. This allows for device integration, vital signs monitoring and clinical surveillance services.
In addition to real-time patient monitoring, the company will provide therapeutic devices, telehealth, image management and informatics solutions including radiology and cardiology PACS, advanced visualization and vendor-neutral archive (VNA) technologies.
