January 12, 2021 -- The American College of Radiology (ACR) stands with Americans of all political affiliations in condemning what took place Jan. 6 in Washington, DC. Mob violence can have no place in American politics nor society, regardless of any stated purpose or cause.

The ACR supports the United States Constitution as well as the American legislative and electoral processes. These institutions must be respected, preserved and observed by all — particularly in times of national emergency.

The violent actions of some do not represent us as Americans. As physicians and healers, we call on decision makers at all levels to avoid divisive rhetoric and actions, and work together with their constituents to heal our nation.

The path forward must be paved with respect for the dignity and views of all. The ACR will work with all stakeholders to seek common ground, fix what is broken and advance the best of our values as we work to improve the health of those we serve and ensure a safe, equitable future for all Americans.
