Siemens Healthineers is set to revamp the digital infrastructure of Pennsylvania's regional healthcare system, Geisinger, as part of a new 10-year Value Partnership between the two.

The partnership will supply Geisinger with digital health solutions, diagnostic imaging equipment and AI-enhanced applications designed by Siemens Healthineers and expected to continually optimize workflow and care delivery.

“What we are most excited about is leveraging the future promise and capabilities of artificial intelligence to respond to a rapidly changing healthcare environment,” Michael Haynes, associate vice president of operations for Geisinger Radiology, told HCB News. “Healthcare is moving toward a consumer-focused model where data-driven decisions and precise diagnoses and treatments help deliver the right care to the right patient at the right time.”

Among the specific solutions Siemens will deploy within Geisinger are Teamplay, a cloud-based departmental management application that provides healthcare professionals with a clear and concise overview of performance data; and syngo Virtual Cockpit, a software used for remote scanning assistance.

It will also offer AI-Rad Companion, an AI-enabled family of vendor-neutral, multi-organ augmented reading solutions that automatically prepare clinical input to be interpreted by radiologists; and AI-Pathway Companion, which provides personalized and standardized care pathways using augmented intelligence, data integration and insights from coherent analytics.

The initiative builds on a history of research collaborations between Siemens and Geisinger, which hopes these offerings and Siemens’ educational resources will help enhance the ability of its staff to identify and respond quicker to health concerns, as well as feel more confident in making decisions for the communities of patients the healthcare system serves in central and northeastern Pennsylvania.

“This partnership with Siemens Healthineers will make health easier for the communities we serve by fusing Siemens' industry-leading technology with the world-class care our compassionate Geisinger teams deliver day in and day out,” said Haynes.
