New president named for UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson
September 09, 2019
PITTSBURGH – UPMC has announced the appointment of Robert Jackson, F.A.C.H.E., as president of UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson effective Oct. 1. Jackson succeeds Don Owrey, F.A.C.H.E., who will serve as chief operating officer, UPMC Susquehanna, and president, UPMC Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Jackson began his health care career with UPMC in 1991, advancing through various finance and leadership positions. His decades of health care experience span hospital, insurance services and physician services administration. For the past 15 years, Jackson has served in his current role as chief executive officer of Grove City Medical Center.

“Rob is a tremendous leader. We’re eager for him to return to his roots with UPMC,” said David Martin, senior vice president, UPMC Health Services Division, and market president, UPMC. “Alongside our talented management team, best-in-class physicians and caring staff, Rob will continue driving the growth and elevated levels of care UPMC Jameson and UPMC Horizon have achieved in recent years.”

Across three hospital campuses located in Greenville, Farrell and New Castle, UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson serve Lawrence and Mercer counties and surrounding communities through a coordinated, regional care delivery approach.

Effective Sept. 1, Owrey transitions to UPMC Susquehanna. Martin will serve as interim president of UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson for the month of September.

“People travel across the globe to receive UPMC’s world-class care, and it’s deployed right here within the region,” said Jackson. “This opportunity to lead three of UPMC’s hospital campuses, in the communities I call home, is a privilege and honor. I look forward to supporting continued services development and access to UPMC’s breakthrough research and innovations — delivering even more world-class health care services locally.”
