Blockchain technology takes center stage at Ohio Healthcare IT Day on April 17

COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- With the passing of Senate Bill 220 during the Ohio 132nd General Assembly and the signature of Governor Kasich into law, Ohio is positioned as a national policy leader on the use of Blockchain technology. The 12th annual Ohio Healthcare Information Technology Day (OHIT Day 2019) at the Ohio Statehouse on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 will be a discussion about the public and private partnership necessary for successful implementation of Blockchain for healthcare in Ohio.

Richard Moore, Advocacy Chair of CSOHIMSS, said, "We have seen the use of blockchain technology for crypto-currencies like Bitcoin, but now we see potential uses of blockchain in other industries are growing rapidly. On OHIT Day 2019 we will focus on blockchain use in healthcare to teach IT, work IT and grow IT for Ohio."

OHIT Day 2019 is a collaborative effort between Central & Southern Ohio Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (CSOHIMSS), the Northern Ohio Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (NOHIMSS), the Ohio Health Information Management Association (OHIMA), CHIME, CliniSync HIE, The Health Collaborative/HealthBridge HIE, eHealth Ohio, HIMSS Government Relations, HIMSS Blockchain Taskforce, HIMSS Innovation Center and other organizations to bring the issue of healthcare information technology to the forefront of the political discussion, directly engage state officials and advocate for Health IT to benefit all Ohioans.
