Philips inks 5-year maintenance and service agreement with Indonesian hospital group

Royal Philips announced a five-year partnership with Siloam Hospitals in Indonesia on Thursday to provide maintenance and operational services for its Philips technologies.

"Multi-year collaboration partnerships like [this one] enable us to deepen our relationship with our customers," Henk de Jong, chief of international markets at Philips, told HCB News. "The close collaboration enables us to provide our customers with the right strategic advice on how to further improve quality of care while reducing the cost of care delivery."

This will help to maintain the quality of the equipment at its 21 hospitals in Jakarta, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Makassar, Bali, Palembang and other major cities.

Siloam Hospitals is a private hospital group that provides general and highly specialized care to over two million patients per year. It uses a wide range of Philips technologies including suites for image-guided therapies and diagnostic imaging solutions like MR, ultrasound and mammography.

According to Caroline Riady, vice president director at Siloam Hospitals, they are also working with their other vendors to ensure that all of the equipment is operationally ready at all times.

Multi-year partnerships with health systems are not new to Philips. In July 2016, Philips also signed an eight-year managed equipment service contract with a hospital in Spain for €77 million.

Through that deal, Philips assumed responsibly for the maintenance, upgrading and renewal of over 90 percent of the hospital's medical equipment.

The company is also entering multi-year partnerships in the U.S. — its most recent deal was a 15-year, $65 million strategic partnerships with Phoenix Children's Hospital.

"We have many long-term collaborations globally," said de Jong. "Each partnership is crafted around the need of the individual customer to solve their complex needs and challenges. These can be around technology, innovation, the patient population, and financing."
