The Association of Medical Service Providers (AMSP), a network of diagnostic imaging Independent Service Organizations founded in 1986, recently returned from its annual meeting in Cancun. The Conference serves as a vehicle for the 23 members of the close-knit organization to learn about new product offerings and discuss challenges facing the industry.

"We are a small, intimate organization of quality service companies. We try to keep our numbers small so that members can best support and interact with each other," says founding member Sal Aidone of Deccaid Services, Inc.

Members benefit from group purchasing discounts and assistance with contract negotiation. Ten vendors exhibited at the Conference, each of them present to negotiate exclusive contracts with the AMSP members. New vendors included National Displays and Genesis Digital Imaging.

Discussion at the Conference concerned how these smaller, less financially-endowed repair providers can compete for market share and political clout vis-a-vis large OEMs. Members agreed that instead of advertising individually, they will be able to save money and generate the same return on investment by advertising the association so that interested parties can call to get the name of an AMSP party in their area.

"DOTmed is becoming something that we can no longer ignore. If all our end-users are coming to us referencing the site, clearly that's where we need to be," says Aidone.
