SALT LAKE CITY—Utah-based healthcare technology company, Novarad, has developed its own specialty viewer with advanced hanging protocols and workflows designed especially for digital mammography.
While Novarad customers have been using a third party mammography viewer for years, Novarad’s new digital mammography viewer is completely native to the NovaPACS enterprise viewer.

“Our customers want variety of choice,” Steve Fowler, Director of Product Management at Novarad, said. “We still offer a deep integration between NovaPACS and Three Palm Software; however, to provide increased selection, we now provide our customers with the option to read with our new native mammography viewer.”

The new NovaMG offers radiologists the option to use their PACS workstation to read solely mammography and tomosynthesis studies, or the convenience to read for all patients and all modalities from the same workstation and user interface.

“The alternative to our integrated software is having to launch a completely different application when you want to read mammo. That application would have a different user interface displaying different controls each time a mammo study is launched,” Fowler said. “Our specialty viewer is built within the PACS. It’s easy to use, it saves time, and it has the exact same user interface and controls as our standard viewer.”

NovaMG has workflows for both screening and diagnostic and provides integrations with voice recognition systems, Penrad™ PenTrac and Penrad™ MIS. It also offers full support for tomosynthesis including cine controls, thumbnail reference map, slab thickness control, and magnification. CAD markers are also displayed and toggled on/off. The software is fully customizable. It includes a professional-grade mouse with special features, hotkeys, voice recognition, and reporting. NovaMG also offers a wide variety of standard and custom hanging protocols as well as immediate, intuitive access to other relevant mammography studies such as Breast MRI and Ultrasound.
