IAMERS announces changes to the Board

Ed Sloan, Sr. and Tom Freund, both very close friends of mine, have stepped down from the International Association of Medical Equipment Remarketers and Servicers (IAMERS) and Stephen Hodgson and Hiren Desai will be joining the board.
Tom served on the board as Ethics Chairman from November 2011 to October 2014. Tom's resignation from the board is a result of him leaving Oxford, where he served for 29 years, most recently as Director of MRI Service. DOTmed News will have an upcoming interview with Freund about his new position with a new company so stay tuned. So when I spoke to Tom on the phone, he left some parting wisdom for IAMERS members - think carefully about the terms of agreements you sign when you buy, sell or provide a service and make sure that you adhere to those terms.
Meanwhile, Ed's resignation as Chairman of the independent service provider committee, where he served for the last two years occurred because he has been increasingly busy. Ed told me he has had a serious uptick in business which was leaving him simply too short on time to attend to the duties required as Chairman as the reason for his resignation. Sloan is the founder of ReMedPar, and was also instrumental in helping to expand MESA in Europe into a Pan-European servicing facility.
Ed is currently dedicating his energy to his namesake company, Ed Sloan & Associates which has grown into a multi-millionaire dollar parts business. Ed told me there is lots of business for everyone and working together will help improve our industry and service to end-users and their patients.
Hiren Desai, also a good friend of mine, and the director of sales and marketing at Soma Technology, Inc. will be stepping into the vacancy left by Tom to serve on the Ethics Chairman. Hiren is a thoughtful and considerate guy. He possesses a calm and reassuring nature, contributing to his moral authority which will surely help him resolve disputes.
Meanwhile, Steve Hodgson, COO and joint founder of Asteral, a U.K.-based company that focuses on the provision of medical equipment-related services, will serve on the independent service committee.
This change in the IAMERS board follows the annual European meeting in Berlin. At the meeting, 21 U.S. companies and seven European companies were represented.
