Eagan, MN - Sorna Corporation, a global leader in digital medical image and data sharing systems, announced today that it has filed a lawsuit for patent infringement against PACSGEAR, Incorporated, a California corporation. The case was filed in United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. In the lawsuit, Sorna alleges that PACSGEAR's medical data recording products, namely its MediaWriter product, infringe Sorna's patent portfolio, which includes U.S. Patent Nos. 7,965,408; 8,045,214; 8,059,304; and 8,687,226. According to the Corporate Disclosure Statement filed by PACSGEAR in the case, PACSGEAR is an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of Lexmark International Incorporated.

"Sorna's issued patents evidence the United States Patent and Trademark Office's recognition of our groundbreaking inventions and early leadership in automated medical media production technology products," said Cyrus Samari, Sorna's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "We consider Sorna's patents to be extremely valuable assets in our intellectual property portfolio, and we will continue to protect our intellectual property rights. We are willing to be reasonable, but Sorna will not tolerate infringement of its patents." Sorna has other patents pending in this field of technology; details are available at www.sorna.com/patents.
