St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii

DOTmed: Please outline the scope of this project.
Jerry Correa, President and Chief Executive Officer of St. Francis Healthcare System, unveiled plans for a 100-bed skilled nursing facility to be located in the Sullivan Building on the Liliha campus. The facility will serve those who are discharged from an acute hospital care and may need ongoing nursing care or specialized rehabilitative services before they are ready to go home.

Construction, which will involve renovating a total of about 50,000 square on the third, fourth and fifth floors of the former hospital building, is targeted for completion in July 2014.

After being licensed, the skilled nursing facility will be ready to care for patients by the end of summer. There is currently a shortage of skilled nursing beds in Hawaii and the new facility will fill a vital need in the community. The facility will create more construction and healthcare jobs for the community. MGA Architecture has been selected as the project architect. Most will be private rooms, which will be different from most nursing homes in Hawaii. Families who visit their loved ones at the new Liliha facility will be able to enjoy a beautiful and comfortable homeā€like atmosphere and residents will have an expansive activity room with panoramic views of Honolulu, from Punchbowl to Pearl Harbor.
