GE's Optima MR360 Advance
GE Healthcare announced two new MR products for its portfolio on Wednesday.

In a statement the company said that its new 1.5T MR scanners — the Optima MR360 Advance and the Brivo MR355 Inspire — have both received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance.

The Optima MR360 is built with a suite of coils comprising a 16 channel head and neck array, anterior array, and flex coils that enable faster workflow. It can also be used for more clinical applications, like those that are needle free and less invasive. According to GE, the new scanner also minimizes the noise to signal degradation, thereby improving image quality, through analog to digital signal inside the scan room.

"Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the image quality, especially the quality of abdomen and pelvis images, which are excellent when compared to 3T," said Tamotsu Nomura, chief technologist at Ishikawa Hospital in Osaka, Japan which owns the first Optima MR360 Advance in the country.

The Brivo MR355 Inspire also minimizes the noise to signal degradation. GE said the Brivo MR355 is engineered to combine the diagnostic benefits of high-performance MR technology with a low total cost of ownership.
