If you're looking to break into one of the world's fastest-growing health care markets, consider exhibiting at Medicall 2011, India's premier medical equipment tradeshow.

Known as the "supermarket" for India's hospitals, the show is where hospital executives from much of the Indian subcontinent mingle with health care vendors and decide on future purchases.
Medicall 2011 runs from August 12-14 at the Chennai Trade Center in Chennai, a favorite tourist and medical tourist destination in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. Chennai -- formerly known at Madras -- is also home to India's first corporate hospital chain, Apollo Hospitals.

DOTmed will be a first-time exhibitor there this year. DOTmed is also Medicall's U.S. Media Partner, so if you have news about your company and Medicall, email it to pr@dotmed.com

The Medicall show floor features a range of health care products, including imaging, surgical, dental, ophthalmologic, physical therapy and laboratory equipment, as well as disposables and information technology.

India has one of the fastest-growing health care markets in the world. Currently estimated to be worth $36 billion, it's expected to grow at a 15 percent compound annual growth rate, reaching nearly $280 billion by 2022, according to Medicall.

Medicall said its own growth has mirrored the industry's. The five-year-old group said its 2006 show attracted 2,500 visitors and 80 exhibitors. But its last show in Chennai, in 2010, attracted 400 exhibitors and 8,000 visitors, the organization said.

Around 10,000 visitors are expected this year, from countries such as Kenya, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, Malaysia, Nigeria and Ghana.

This year, the show is also hosting six seminars to draw end-users, including one on how to introduce Lean Six Sigma practices to medicine.

Show sponsors include Mindray, Premier, Shuter, Godrej Interio, Vissco Rehabilitation, Silicon Labs, Stryker, Sony India, Remi Elektrotechnik, Gerflor, Square Foot and the State Bank of India.

Medicall is run by Medexpert Business Consultants Pvt. Ltd., and promoted by Dr. Manivannan, joint managing director of Kavery Medical Center and Hospital, a 400-bed hospital in Tiruchirappalli, a city in Tamil Nadu.
