The Shandon Cytospin 3 Cytocentrifuge uses proven, low-speed centrifugation technology to concentrate and deposit a thin layer of cells onto a microscope slide to ensure better cell capture and better preservation of cell morphology. The variety of Cytofunnelﾮ options provides maximum flexibility in application protocols.
Using centrifugal principle, the Cytospin deposits cells onto a clearly-defined area of a glass slide and allows for the absorption of the residual fluid into the sample chamber's filter card. Cytocentrifugation also constructively flattens cells for excellent nuclear presentation. During operation, the instrument's spinning action tilts Cytofunnels upright and deposits a thin layer of cells on the slide, giving all cell types equal opportunity for presentation. In the Stop position, this unique tilting feature reduces cell loss by preventing residual fluid from coming into contact with the prepared slide.
The Cytospin protects the operator before, during, and after sample preparation. The ability to load the Cytospin Sealed Head in a microbiological cabinet is the ultimate safety procedure.
As an added safety measure, the Cytospin will only operate when the lid is locked into position. The lid remains locked at all times during rotation. The polycarbonate window allows the operator to see the spinning head/rotor during cytocentrifugation.
The Cytospin is designed to prevent accidental fluid spillage from damaging the mechanical or electronic components and to allow for easy disinfecting.
